Real Madrid Stars Take to the Table

Ex Chelsea duo Michael Essien and Ricardo Carvalho took on Luka modric and Sami Khedira in a 2V2 game of table tennis.

The game began friendly but as it went on you could see both teams wanted to win and their competitiveness that’s on the pitch came out onto the table.

At on point in the game their was an amazing rally which was ended by a Michael Essien back hand.

But it was Essien’s back hand that was the teams downfall as both sides reached 19 a piece. Essien let off a wild back hand that left the opposing team 20-19 up and and in the last game essien attempted another powerful back hand that hit into the net to give Luka modric and Sami Khedira the win.

 

Olympic champion Zhang Jike Beats Ovtcharov Dimitrij

London Olympic champion Zhang Jike beat the man who took Bronze at the same Olympics the German Ovtcharov Dimitrij 3-0 at the Asia – Europe Table Tennis All Stars Challenge on Sunday.

The first game was one 11-9 and the following games where won 11-2 and 11-9 to finish the game 3-0.

The Asian team managed to win seven matches out of ten over the two day event. Xiao Zhan, the coach of the Asian Team said: ”We won the series 7-3, but it didn’t represent that Asian table tennis lead Europe’s so much. You can see some matches are very tough,”

 

Behind-the-Back Trick Shot Winner

Quentin Robinot, 20 years old, won a game against Kiryl Barabanov of Belarus in extreme style after they rallied for a while and Quentin left Kiryl baffed after he one the game with a behind the back trick shot that stunned the crowed in the manor he done it, so cool and calm.

Kiryl began hitting back harder and Quentin just left his opponent flat footed and shocked.

After Kiryl came over the shock he gave his opponent plaudits and showed some respect to the trick shot that won him the game.

Skegness Grammar School’s Under 13s Team Make Final

The team of very young players have managed to book themselves a place in the Butterfly National School Team Championship finals and have established themselves as a worthy team.

Having reached the final of the Butterfly National School Team Championship they will now play some of the best schools in the country in one of the most prestigious competitions they could possibly be in.

Head of PE, Amanda Black, said: “The boys have achieved a huge amount in a short period of time thanks to their personal dedication to the sport.

“They have been in school training at 7am with their coach Hong Peebles and have come on leaps and bounds in a very short time.”

Tom Jarvis a member of the team has stood out from the rest and has been awarded with a new scholarship instigated by the David Ross Education Trust who support talented athletes and tom will be heading of abroad to train with the England Team.

Amanda added: “His enthusiasm for the sport has cajoled the interest of Del, Jack, Nathan and Declan, who themselves are becoming high profile players within the sport,”
